HISTORIA KLUBU

Lata 1921 – 1937

W roku 1919 w większych miastach takich jak Kraków czy Warszawa istniały już kluby piłkarskie. Mieszkańcy Zawiercia nie posiadali takiego klubu, mogli się natomiast z zainteresowaniem przyglądać przedstawicielom angielskiego Czerwonego Krzyża którzy to w wolnym od pracy czasie kopali piłkę w okolicach Resursy, przyczyniło się to do naśladowania przez młodych mieszkańców Anglików. W 1920 roku zrodził się pomysł utworzenia klubu, który zjednał wieli zwolenników. W mieszkaniach przyszłych zawodników odbyły się spotkania i narady co do sprecyzowania formalnych struktur klubu. W tym samym roku udało załatwić się wszystkie zezwolenia i tak powstał pierwszy w Zawierciu klub piłkarski noszący nazwę "Warta" od rzeki przepływającej przez miasto. Zawodnicy klubu występowali w biało czerwonych barwach. Pierwszym prezesem został S. Gębarski a zastępcą W. Miller. Zawodnicy poza grą musieli także dbać o boisko i sprzęt gdyż nie można było liczyć na dotacje. Do roku 1926 klub brał udział w rozgrywkach podokręgu zagłębiowskiego (klasa"B" i "A"). Następnie po utworzeniu częstochowskiego okręgu pozostał w rozgrywkach "A" klasy, do utworzenia w 1937 roku Okręgowej Ligi Zagłębiowskiej. Boisko Warty początkowo znajdowało się na obszarze parku miejskiego, następnie w okolicach Domu Kultury Włókniarz(obecna Biedronka), teren ten podarowało Towarzystwo Akcyjne Zawiercie. Następnie po raz trzeci w 1936 roku zmieniło lokalizację na ulicę Senatorską w dzielnicy Argentyna. Istniało ono do 1968 r., następnie rozgrywki przeniesiono na obecny stadion Tysiąclecia Państwa Polskiego oddany do użytku w 1966r.
